A 37-year professional career with Shell Chemicals, spanning chemical plant operations, process engineering, investment economic analysis, marketing and business management.
Involvement in Middle East petrochemicals since 1974, when he participated in the Saudi Petrochemical Company (Sadaf) joint venture negotiations between Shell Oil Company and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). Prior to his retirement from Shell Chemicals in 1999, he was based in the United Arab Emirates as Vice President-Middle East and President, Shell Chemicals Arabia. In these latter assignments, he was responsible for Shell Chemicals' marketing and manufacturing operations in the Middle East and for managing Shell's interests in the Sadaf joint venture. He was a director of Sadaf for 15 years.
An independent petrochemicals consultant since 1999. Clients include leading international chemical companies. Assignments have involved identification of potential acquisitions, due diligence reviews, product slate design, raw material contract development and negotiation strategy, make versus buy analysis, and joint venture agreements.
